Red Marmalade is the creation of Samantha McVie and Megan Harper, two Melbourne based natural light photographers, specialising in family photography.
Red Marmalade understands the meaning of family, as they share this bond with each other. Growing together in the folds of a large, vibrant and sometimes unconventional family, they have found their shared love of capturing the original, remarkable and the exceptional of families and the individuals that create them. This together with their fresh and organic style is the perfect recipe for unique, vibrant family photographs.
When not working together as Red Marmalade, Samantha and Megan skillfully juggle their growing children, husbands, and pets within a weekly routine of school and kinder runs, swimming, basketball training, horse riding lessons and teenage shift work while setting aside time for the sanctuary of their individual photography businesses...
We understand the the time pressures of the modern family, and we also know the importance of taking time to slow down and appreciate the uniqueness of the families we have created.
We share interests of photography, all things crafty and quirky and a genetic sweet tooth (we are partial to yo yos, sponge cake and anything chocolate) and seem to gravitate to the same sense of beautiful, but creating a balance we are also very different... oh there is an extensive list but the highlights include Samantha can sew... anything...beautifully, Megan cannot sew, not even to repair a hem. Megan can tell you your bum looks fat in a pair of jeans.... Samantha... not so much. Samantha can draw and sketch... Megan... awesome stickmen. Megan will get on a horse and attempt to ride it... Samantha...she is happy to sketch it! But the almighty difference of opinion comes down to tomatoes - they will never agree on tomatoes...
So it is the old adage of "same same, but different" or is it "individually they are amazing, together they are genius"
